Child Safety - Our Commitment, Everyone's Responsibility

At St Thomas Aquinas Primary School, child safety is everyone’s responsibility. We are committed to creating an environment where children and young people are respected, their voices are heard, and they are safe and feel safe at all times.

Child Safety Standards

At St Thomas Aquinas, the Child Safe Standards shape the way we build a safe and welcoming environment for every child. They are not just a checklist — they influence how we greet families at the gate, how we respond when a child shares a worry, and how we ensure all students are included, respected, and cared for.

The Standards guide our leadership, our teaching, and our relationships with students and families. They help us to create a culture where children know their voices matter, where diversity is valued, and where wellbeing is central to learning. Most importantly, they remind us that safety is everyone’s responsibility — staff, students, parents, and the wider community working together to make St Thomas Aquinas a place where children are safe and feel safe every day.

Code of Conduct

All staff, volunteers, and contractors at St Thomas Aquinas are required to sign a Child Safe Code of Conduct. This document clearly sets out expected behaviours and responsibilities when interacting with students. Anyone who fails to follow the Code will not be permitted to engage directly with the school community and, where necessary, matters will be reported to the appropriate authorities.
