Mathematics

At St Thomas Aquinas we believe Mathematics is a key element to successfully participating and contributing to our society.  Our students are engaged in mathematical experiences that are hands on and engaging, connecting to real life contexts making their learning purposeful.  Through each learning experience undertaken, students recognise that mistakes are valuable, questions are important and that mathematics is about making connections and communicating thinking.

Students develop the mathematical skills of understanding, fluency, reasoning, modelling and problem solving within the areas of number and algebra, statistics and probability, and measurement and geometry.

Some of the programs used to enhance mathematical understanding at St Thomas Aquinas include:

  • Learning Framework in Number

  • Pattern and Structure Mathematics Awareness Program
